Creta Kano experiences "pain" a physical pain, that could just be from her emotional state or mental state. She thinks that she has experienced "real" pain. The pain she feels could possibly be from the anxiety of being the youngest child; a son would receive high praise and Malta Kano, the person she relied on most, was gone. The pain could possibly be just a manifestation of these factors.
