Malta Kano is interested in water. Water is a cleansing and purifying element and she seems to be the character that can help Mr. Okada with all his problems, therefore purifying and/or cleansing him. She said that human existence was largely controlled by water and Mr. Okada was predicted that he needed to stay away from water for it was dangerous to him.
